On May 29, the Day of Armed Forces is celebrated in Kyrgyzstan.
This holiday was established by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of May 19, 1994, at the initiative of the Ministry of Defence of Kyrgyzstan. And the date was chosen due to the fact that on May 29, 1992, military units and institutions stationed in the country were taken under the jurisdiction of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He is in charge of the Armed Forces, he appoints and replaces the high command. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic serves as the unified command center of the Armed Forces.
