On September 9, 2021, the Republic of Tajikistan marks the 30th anniversary of state independence (Tadj. Рӯзи Истиқлолияти Ҷумҳурии Тоҷикистон). The holiday is established by the law On Holidays as amended on May 22, 1998.
As President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon stated in his speech at a meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of state independence, “September 9 is a historical, fateful date and one of the moments of happiness and dignity for the ancient, glorious Tajik people that create and honour culture. The dear people of Tajikistan celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of their independent and free beloved country with overwhelming patriotism.”
Emomali Rahmon recalled: “Independence is the greatest and most sacred good, the highest embodiment of national mentality, pride and patriotism, the symbol of an ancient nation and independence, the Tajik state nationality, the basis of happiness and a source of pride for the people of Tajikistan.
President of the Republic of Tajikistan stressed that “this happy day, that is, the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of independence and freedom, and the greatest achievement of this period: peace and tranquillity, political stability and national unity did not come easy to the glorious Tajik people.”
On September 9, 1991, a session of the Shuroi Oli (Supreme Council) of the Republic of Tajikistan adopted a resolution On State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan with the following wording: “The Republic of Tajikistan is an independent, democratic and law-governed state.”
The Republic of Tajikistan, among other states, stood at the origins of the establishment of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in its present form, with its main objectives being strengthening peace, international and regional security and stability, collective protection of independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Member States, with the Member States giving political means a priority in their achievement.
This resulted in the creation of prerequisites for the formation of an effective system of collective security in three areas: Eastern European, Caucasus and Central Asian.
In 2021, the Republic of Tajikistan chairs the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Deputies of Majlisi Oli (Parliament) of the Republic of Tajikistan actively work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
The Republic of Tajikistan is building, living, working and meeting the new day with dignity.
