Hakob Arshakyan Notes Need to Strengthen CSTO’s Position on the World Stage
St Petersburg hosted meetings of the Standing Commissions of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. Hakob Arshakyan, Chairman of the Committee on Political Affairs and International Cooperation, stressed the need to strengthen the CSTO collective security system and the Organization’s position on the world stage.
“It is necessary to note the importance of increasing the coordination of joint efforts at international platforms in the interests of the CSTO Member States in order to prevent the support of unconstitutional and illegal actions in any country leading to the destruction of statehood, as well as to further strengthen the CSTO collective security system, which is one of the most important tools to ensure security, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Member States,” Mr Arshakyan said.
Meeting participants also discussed the priorities of the Republic of Belarus’ presidency in the CSTO, results of the November session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the regular meeting of the chairpersons of the committees of the parliaments of the CSTO Member States in Moscow, heard reports on the meetings in Vienna and Bahrain and the CSTO PA observation of the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan.
