Aleksandr Lukashenko: We Demonstrated Electoral Sovereignty in Practice
The Belarusian people have built a sovereign state. It was declared by Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus, on March 25 at his inauguration ceremony.
The President pointed out that 30 years ago people around the world barely knew anything about Belarus.
"Who was interested in us? Hardly anyone. But today? Today our country is recognized worldwide, today we matter! That's why we're getting a lot of attention. But not everyone likes our independence, especially our open and honest position in the international arena. We have demonstrated electoral sovereignty in practice. Over the years, we have managed to establish a standard for conducting elections, which can serve as an international standard. We have achieved our victories together!" Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
The President of Belarus thanked all voters “for believing in the principles and values that lie at the core of the accomplishments of the sovereign Belarus."
Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed special gratitude to the media for the high level of professionalism.
"The national media is focused on the serious matters, without hype, speculation, shows or scandals. The state media are the main source of information for Belarusians,” the President emphasized.
President Lukashenko also addressed his opponents, who took part in the run for presidency.
“Thanks to you we have shown an example of a real, true competition. Without internal scheming or manipulations by any external forces,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
As you may recall, a CSTO delegation observed the preparation and conduct of the presidential election in Belarus. Parliamentarians delegated to Minsk by the CSTO Member States held meetings with all the presidential candidates and assessed the situation at the polling stations in the capital of Belarus. According to the results of the observation, the CSTO PA International Observers' Final Report was published.
The electoral sovereignty is a key element in the legislative work of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. The recommendations of the CSTO PA on the protection of electoral sovereignty were taken into account in the Concept of National Security of the Republic of Belarus.
