Aleksandr Lukashenko: Unipolar world is going to be a thing of the past
“Today’s meeting is taking place at a difficult time - the time of global redistribution: the unipolar world order is becoming a thing of the past, but the collective West is waging a bitter struggle to maintain its positions. It uses all kinds of measures, including those within the area of responsibility of our Organization, from rattling NATO’s weapons at our western borders to the full-scale hybrid war unleashed against us, first of all against Russia and Belarus,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, at the meeting of the CSTO heads of dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the CSTO.
The President of the Republic of Belarus noted that NATO “is growing its muscles, reeling in Finland and Sweden, which were neutral only yesterday.”
“They follow the principle ‘Who is not with us is against us,’ while hypocritically continuing to declare their defensive stance,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. In this context, the President of the Republic of Belarus highlighted the deliberately peace-loving and defensive nature of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Mr Lukashenko acknowledged the build-up of the US forces on the western flank of the CSTO area of responsibility, the ongoing modernization of the armed forces of the NATO member states and numerous exercises, including Defender Europe 2022.
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, Belarus’ membership in the CSTO is a stabilizing factor that has a sobering effect on the “hotheads” on the other side of the border. “Otherwise, a ‘hot war’ might have already begun on the territory of Belarus,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
“Now it is absolutely clear that without meeting common resistance from the allies within the Organization and other integration associations in the post-Soviet space, the collective West will increase its pressure,” the President of the Republic of Belarus stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke in favour of enhancing political interaction and coordination among the CSTO Member States. “We should speak out at international meetings on behalf of the CSTO more often, so that the voice and position of the Organization are seen and heard, and that voice and position should be united like in the West,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
