Anatoly Sidorov: CSTO exercise will use software created especially for the Crisis Response Centre
This year’s main events of the joint training of command bodies and formations of CSTO Troops are planned to take place in the Central Asian region of collective security, said Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, on September 15 at a briefing at the Crisis Response Centre in Moscow before departing for Yerevan.
“The tasks will be practiced in a specially created military and political training environment: against the background of a simulated aggravation of the struggle between the main centres of power for the spread of their influence over Central Asian states,” the CSTO Joint Staff Chief stressed.
The Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff informed about a group of events planned within the framework of joint operational and combat training, the goals and objectives of these events, forces and resources involved and the main features of the joint exercises of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) in 2022.
During the Strategic Command-and-Staff Exercise under the leadership of the CSTO Chief of the Joint Staff, the main efforts will focus on improving the algorithm of the CSTO Crisis Response Centre and increasing the effectiveness of interaction with the governing bodies of the Organization’s states.
“During the training we plan to test software specially created for the Crisis Response Centre, which dramatically reduces the work time of functional groups and increases the efficiency of the Crisis Response Centre in general in the interests of the statutory bodies’ preparation of draft decisions on crisis situations,” said Anatoly Sidorov.
In addition, one joint, two command-and-staff and two special exercises combining the training of various components of CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) are planned to be held in the republics of the Central Asian region this year. For instance, for the first time, the plan for a command-and-staff exercise with the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Forces Interaction 2022 includes the implementation of measures to eliminate the consequences of chemical and biological contamination and search and rescue operations using canine crews in the interests of the CSTO CRDF units and the use of the new CSTO joint formation of radiological, biological, chemical protection and medical support.
The Matybulak training ground in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host a practice of deploying a formation in a designated area, conducting radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance with determination of the scale and prediction of the consequences of biological contamination, conducting a set of disinfection measures and providing specialized medical care in a field hospital.
A series of exercises with the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Forces will take place in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.
Members of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will participate as observers in the Unbreakable Brotherhood 2022 exercise with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces in the Kyrgyz Republic.
