Anatoly Vyborny: the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly works ahead of challenges and threats
In a new edition of the Duma TV program "Zakonny vopros" ("Legitimate Question"), Anatoly Vyborny, deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control and Chairman of the CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Defence and Security, spoke about the current relations between the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO), as well as about the activities of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
"The CSTO is a military and political defensive organization. Hence the strategy of building the legislative process, including by us, parliamentarians. But at the same time, given the challenges and threats we face, not to mention NATO's fanatical sanctions policy and its activity near our borders, today there definitely is a request to develop model legislation, but by this we mean the development, which will allow us to surpass the defense agenda," Vyborny emphasized.
According to the deputy, both the Organization itself and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly are doing their best to stay ahead of all possible challenges and threats.
"We also face the challenge of creating mechanisms to implement Model Acts in national legislation in a matter of days, that is, in the shortest possible period of time, because time is shrinking and running fast, and all the challenges and threats are becoming more and more intense as well," Vyborny emphasized.
He also noted the increasing role of demands for a just multipolar world, which is disadvantageous for the North Atlantic Alliance.
"At the same time, we see that the world is tired of the agenda that the collective West has built. Sure enough, the CSTO is now attracting increased attention of the whole world. Why? Because it emphasizes the need for unified security for everyone, the need to ensure both regional and global security," the politician shared.
Anatoly Vyborny pointed out that the CSTO has repeatedly offered NATO mutually beneficial cooperation in peacekeeping, as well as in the prevention and elimination of emergencies. However, no response has been received, which, in his opinion, clearly indicates an unfriendly attitude.
"For NATO, the CSTO countries are like a bare nerve. Therefore, on the one hand, we must actively develop international cooperation with the so-called global majority, and on the other hand, we have to build up our capacity to respond to threats at any time, no matter who they come from," the parliamentarian shared.
