Artyom Turov: Referendum takes place within the framework of the current legislation

“Today is an important day for the Republic and its citizens: Kazakhstan holds a referendum on amendments to the Constitution,” commented Artyom Turov, deputy Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. “We work in Almaty and Almaty region as part of the mission of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, we have already visited 9 polling stations. Wherever my colleagues and I went, everything is going smoothly, according to the national law. People actively vote,” said Artem Turov.
As you may recall, following the invitation of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs of May 6, 2022 and the instruction of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the Russian State Duma, international observers from the CSTO PA take part in the international observation of the preparation and voting at the referendum in the Republic of Kazakhstan on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan
International observers from the CSTO PA operate based on the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the referendum and observation of laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
