Airmen of the Erebuni military base conducted joint exercises with the Air Force of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia
Tactical Air Force pilots of the Erebuni military base (Southern Military District) located in the Republic of Armenia conducted a bilateral exercise together with the Air Force of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia. The exercise focused on the relocation of the airplanes to a backup airfield together with the crews of the Sukhoi Su-25 and Sukhoi Su-30SM airplanes of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia. The Southern Military District press service reports that at the Alagyaz high-altitude proving ground, the Migunov MiG-29 fighter pilots carried out special flight missions to destroy ground targets that imitated the armoured vehicles of the hypothetical enemy and performed manoeuvres to evade attack and fighter aircraft of the hypothetical enemy at altitudes of 250 to 1,500 meters at a speed of up to 900 kilometres per hour. After a dogfight with the hypothetical enemy in the sky over Armenia, the pilots landed at the airfield of Gyumri individually, in pairs, in groups and as part of a squadron.
The exercise was conducted jointly with motorized rifle units of the Russian military base and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia.
The tactical exercise involved more than 500 pilots and technicians from the two countries and more than 50 military vehicles, including the Russian Migunov MiG-29 and Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft and the Sukhoi Su-30SM of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia.
