Hayk Chilingaryan: We note the high level of preparations for the voting
Hayk Chilingaryan, international observer from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly at the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia in the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, noted that the voters are cared for and highlights peculiarities that he has noticed during the election. “We visited three polling stations in 2 hours to observe the voting process.”
Voting, says Hayk Chilingaryan, “is calm, quiet. People are coming; the turnout so far (9:00 a.m. Astana time) is, for various precincts, 10–20% of the total number of registered voters at that particular polling station.”
“We were pleased to see that there are separate booths for disabled voters. They are wider and can be entered in a wheelchair. The booths are equipped with Braille texts for visually impaired, there is a computer for the hard-of-hearing, so they can cast their vote via computer,” stressed Hayk Chilingaryan. “This is, in fact, an innovation, I have not seen anything like it during all the recent election monitoring in various countries. It was very interesting.”
