Belarusian and Russian Sukhoi Su-30SM fighters conducted joint patrols of the Union State border
Belarusian and Russian Sukhoi Su-30SM fighters conducted this year’s first joint patrol of the Union State borders, Soyuznoye Veche reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.
“Belarusian and Russian pilots conducted the first joint patrol of the air borders of the Union State this year on Sukhoi Su-30SM multirole fighters. Pilots stayed in the air for 120 minutes and covered more than 1,150 kilometres during their patrol,” the report says.
TASS recalls that in December 2021 the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus announced that in 2022 the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation will continue to carry out joint air defence system’s combat alert duty, as well as to patrol the air borders of the Union State. Previously, in addition to fighter jets, Russian Air Force long-range bombers Tupolev Tu-160 and Tu-22M3 were also involved in joint patrols. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is an observer to the CSTO PA.
