Red Cross delegation and the CSTO discussed possible participation in joint exercises

On March 3, 2021, the CSTO Secretariat in Moscow hosted a working meeting between Takhir Khayrulloyev, CSTO deputy Secretary General, and Francisco Javier Cepero Garcia, deputy Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation to the Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova.
According to the CSTO press service, the parties discussed issues related to the implementation of the 2021 CSTO–ICRC Cooperation Plan between the CSTO Secretariat and the ICRC Regional Delegation to the Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova and mutually interesting issues of enhancing cooperation between the CSTO and ICRC.
Mr Khayrulloyev and Mr Garcia specified the formats and dates of the joint CSTO-ICRC events planned for 2021. They also exchanged views and reached an understanding regarding the interaction in preparing the 7th High-Level Coordination Meeting between the CSTO and the ICRC (Geneva).
In addition, they discussed the possibility of the ICRC’s participation in the joint exercises with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces Unbreakable Brotherhood 2021 on the territory of the Russian Federation and with the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Force Vzaimodeistvie 2021 (“Interaction 2021”) on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The parties confirmed their mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in the key areas of international humanitarian law.
