Russian air defence forces’ S-400 battalions to take part in an exercise in Belarus
Two divisions of S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile systems (AAMS) of the Air Force and Air Defence Command of the Eastern Military District involved in the inspection of the Union State response forces have marched to the loading station in the Khabarovsk krai, where they loaded the equipment on railway platforms. This was reported by the website of the Russian Ministry of Defence.
Air Defence units will perform a combined march by train and using their own means to the unfamiliar training grounds in the Republic of Belarus.
Upon arrival at the training grounds, Russian servicemen will equip and camouflage launching positions, maintain equipment and take up a training duty of air defence as part of the United Regional Air Defence System of Belarus and Russia.
The inspection will take place in two stages.
The first stage (until February 9) will see the swiftest deployment and establishment of groupings of troops (forces) in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, organization of protection and defence of important state and military facilities, protection of the state border in the air space and testing of readiness and capability of the forces and assets on duty for air defence to cover important facilities in the Republic of Belarus.
The second stage of the inspection (February 10–20) will be a joint exercise Union Resolve 2022 to train suppressing and repelling external aggression, countering terrorism and protecting the interests of the Union State.
During the exercise, measures will be taken to strengthen the protection of the state border in order to prevent the penetration of armed groups of militants, block arms and ammunition delivery channels and search for, block and destroy illegal armed formations and simulated enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
Troops (forces) will practice at the Domanovsky, Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brestsky and Osipovichsky training grounds and in certain separate locations in the Republic of Belarus. It is planned to involve the airfields of Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida and Machulischi.
The number of troops and equipment involved in the exercise falling within the scope of the Vienna Document 2011 does not exceed the parameters specified therein and does not require a notification.
