Vahid Jalalzadeh: Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to play linking role between the countries and its regions bordering with CSTO members
In his address to the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Vahid Jalalzadeh, Chairman of the Commission of National Security and Foreign Policy of the Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressed the role and place of parliaments in the situation “when events unfolding in our region present opportunities and numerous challenges.”
“The fight against terrorism, violent extremism, organized crime, drug smuggling, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and prevention of foreign interference in the region are the most important challenges that should be among the priorities of parliaments," stressed Vahid Jalalzade.
He noted that “the impact of the departing international system and the formation of a new multipolar system in various economic, political and security fields is inevitable for our countries.”
“Managing the outcome of such a situation requires a common collective effort and the use of all capacities, including those of parliaments,” stressed the Chairman of the Commission of National Security and Foreign Policy of the Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Vahid Jalalzadeh emphasized the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with its special geographical location, favourable communication infrastructure and technical capacities as well as a skilled workforce, in developing bilateral friendly relations based on mutual interests, “to play a linking role between the countries and its border regions with members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
