CSTO PA observers focus on e-voting in Moscow today
CSTO PA international observers started their work on September 17 at the Public Headquarters for Election Observation in Moscow in order to monitor the electoral situation and voting process during the election to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Today CSTO PA observers focus on electronic voting for the elections to the Russian State Duma and on meetings with representatives of the widest range of political parties taking part in the election campaign.
The Public Headquarters for Election Observation in Moscow has been deployed in Expocentre. There is a video centre, which is connected to every polling station in Moscow, a call centre, a review team and mobile response teams. There are also three online voting precinct commissions and an e- voting observation zone.
A total of 7.587 million people have been added to the voter lists at 3,638 polling stations in Moscow.
The system has undergone a series of tests and enjoys maximum protection against tampering.
Over half a million of Moscow residents have already voted remotely. Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, has also signed up to vote electronically.
By a decision of the Russian Central Election Commission, Remote electronic voting in the 2021 elections is taking place in Moscow, as well as in Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Murmansk and Rostov oblasts and Sevastopol.
“Our task is to ensure control at every level for open and legitimate elections,” said Aleksei Venediktov, head of the Public Headquarters for Election Observation.
Arman Kozhakhmetov, coordinator of the group of CSTO PA international observers and Chairman of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial Reform of the Majilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said: “We see that Russia is developing dynamically, including in the domain of digital technologies. This experience is worth studying applying in our countries.”
