General Anatoly Yakovlev: CSTO Is Strengthening its Military Component
Speaking on behalf of the CSTO Joint Staff at the meeting of Chairmen of the Committees and Commissions on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States, Lieutenant General Anatoly Yakovlev, Head of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) Planning Department, outlined the key areas of development of the Organization's military component.
General Yakovlev emphasized that for more than 32 years of existence of the Collective Security Treaty, an extensive legal framework has been created, including 60 international treaties and more than 350 decisions of the CSTO bodies.
“Currently, we are working on the draft 2026-2030 Military Cooperation Development Plan,” said the representative of the CSTO Joint Staff.
Among the priority tasks, he named improvement of the system for monitoring the military and political situation, increasing the readiness of the CSTO Crisis Response Center and optimizing the mechanisms for coordinating interstate decisions on deploying the troops, as well as domestic procedures for the implementation of these decisions.
According to him, an important aspect is to increase the combat potential of national contingents by including intelligence, electronic warfare, air defence and unmanned aviation units, as well as forming common equipment standards.
