CSTO Secretary General informed the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia about the preliminary results of the monitoring of the border situation
According to the official website of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, informed Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, about the preliminary results of the CSTO mission.
The CSTO mission headed by the Organization’s Secretary General and the CSTO Chief of Joint Staff was sent to Armenia in accordance with the decision of the extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council held on September 13, 2022. The mission consisted of representatives of the CSTO Member States employed by the Organization’s working bodies.
The CSTO mission is tasked to monitor and study the local situation in certain border regions of the Republic of Armenia and to make proposals for further steps. Based on the results of its work, the mission prepares a report for the heads of the CSTO Member States on the situation in the region and proposals for the normalization of the situation.
The CSTO mission headed by the Secretary General arrived in Armenia on September 20 in accordance with the decision of the extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council. The mission is to assess the situation, prepare a report to CSTO leaders on the situation in the region and proposals to de-escalate tension in certain areas on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Earlier the advance team of the Organization’s Mission headed by Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, completed its work in Armenia.
