Stanislav Zas, CSTO Secretary General: “We must improve the Organization’s military potential and analytical work”
On December 19, the Russia Today international multimedia press centre hosted a press conference of Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. It was held in the format of a Moscow – Astana – Bishkek – Yerevan – Minsk video conference that summed up the results of the CSTO’s work in 2022 and assessed the military and political situation in the CSTO’s area of responsibility.
Stanislav Zas listed the main tasks and priorities facing the CSTO in 2023 during the Republic of Belarus’ presidency in the Organization. In particular, he said that the Collective Security Treaty Organisation aimed to resolve contradictions between the Member States and prevent destabilization.
The CSTO Secretary General paid particular attention to the improvement of the CSTO’s military potential. He stressed the importance of thorough analysis of the global situation.
“It is time for us to work on a new CSTO strategy. This is a big and serious task, and it is very important for us now to conduct a thorough analysis,” said Stanislav Zas.
The CSTO Secretary General announced the completion of his mission at this post and wished good luck to his successor Imangali Tasmagambetov.
As you may recall, Stanislav Zas has held the post of Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization since January 1, 2020. On November 23, 2022, in Yerevan, participants of the meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council decided to appoint a representative of Kazakhstan, Imangali Tasmagambetov, as the Organization’s Secretary General starting from January 1, 2023, for the period of three years.
