Heads of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Advocate "Productive Continuation" of Border Negotiations
On June 2, Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic met with Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan who arrived in the Kyrgyz resort capital Cholpon-Ata to attend the EU-Central Asia summit.
The heads of state of the CSTO Member States discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation, as well as priorities of the regional and international agenda.
“During the talks, special attention was paid to the issue of border delimitation and demarcation. The heads of state expressed satisfaction with the results achieved so far on the agreement of the projected border line between the two countries in recent years. Presidents Japarov and Rahmon advocated the continuation of negotiations and the search for mutually acceptable solutions based on mutual respect and trust,” reports the press service of the Kyrgyz President.
As you may recall, over the past year and a half, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have agreed on 102 km of the designed border line whose length exceeds 950 km.
