On March 26, draft Recommendations for CSTO Member States on Elaborating General Principles of the Development of National Legislation Regulating the Creation of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to Ensure National Security were presented at the CSTO PA headquarters in St. Petersburg.
The aim of this initiative is to ensure national security through regulating the use of the latest technologies.
"Although having obvious advantages for the development of the economy, public administration and defense, artificial intelligence technologies still pose a number of threats to the security interests of citizens, society and the state. Among such threats AI is usually said to be used to carry out network attacks, create fake and other unreliable (falsified) information and imitate a person", states the text of the document presented at the meeting by Anton Antopolsky, associate professor of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
The draft Recommendations emphasize the need for transparency, ethics, control and safety in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics.
The participants of the meeting supported the presented draft document and expressed their intention to hold further discussions for its adoption in order to ensure security and protect the interests of the CSTO Member States in the context of rapid technological development.
