Ivica Dačić: We consider the CSTO a friendly delegation at our election in Serbia
Ivica Dačić, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, met with the international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization who arrived to the Republic of Serbia to monitor the preparations and voting in the regular election of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the early election of deputies to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. Mr Dačić noted the importance of international observation of electoral processes and thanked the international observers for their readiness to assist in organizing open, transparent and fair elections in the Republic of Serbia. He also highlighted the many years of fruitful cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
In turn, on behalf of the CSTO PA observers, Vladimir Novikov, coordinator of the international observers from the CSTO PA, expressed gratitude to Ivica Dačić, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, for the invitation to monitor the preparations and voting in the upcoming election of the President of the Republic of Serbia and early election of deputies to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and assured him of objectivity and impartiality of the CSTO PA international observers who follow the principles set out in the Convention on Standards of Democratic Election, Voting Rights and Freedoms in the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
As you may recall, international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly were invited by Ivica Dačić, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, to participate in monitoring the preparation and conduct of the election of the President of the Republic of Serbia and early election of deputies to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
CSTO PA international observers are representatives of the parliaments of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States: National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Federation Council and State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
By law, the regular election of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the early election of deputies to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia are scheduled for April 3.
On the day of presidential and early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Serbia, international observers from the CSTO PA will work at polling stations in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia, from the opening of polling stations until the end of the vote count.
Since 2013, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has been an observer to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
