Today, September 19, 2021, observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization were present at the opening of polling stations in Moscow as part of monitoring the election to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
Polling stations opened on time: exactly at 8:00 a.m. Moscow time.
“The polling station opened exactly at 8 a.m. We can see that all procedures are observed, the ballot boxes are sealed and the ballot papers from the previous day are secured,” said Arman Kozhakhmetov, head of the CSTO PA mission at the polling station No. 73 at Maliy Kislovsky Lane in Moscow.
International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly are currently monitoring the voting at precinct election commissions in Moscow and Moscow oblast.
As you may recall, today is the third and final day of voting.
The election to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation takes place on September 17–19, 2021.
A group of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, in accordance with the invitation from Valentina Matvienko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, is conducting short-term monitoring of the electoral situation and voting.
The group includes representatives of the parliaments of the CSTO Member States: the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and the observer to the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly – the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
The group is coordinated by Arman Kozhakhmetov, Chairman of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial and Legal Reform of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On September 16 and 17 the CSTO PA international observers worked in Moscow as part of the short-term monitoring, on September 18 they visited St Petersburg and Leningrad oblast to learn about the voting progress and electoral situation.
