Kazakhstan plans to develop alliance with Russia and strategic partnership with China, TASS refers to the 2020–2030 Foreign Policy Concept of the Republic approved by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“The priorities of regional and multilateral diplomacy include further development of alliance with the Russian Federation, strategic partnership with the People’s Republic of China, expanded strategic partnership with the US, strategic relations with Central Asian states, expanded partnership and cooperation with the EU and EU member states,” says the document that was published on Monday by the press service of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In addition, close cooperation is planned to continue with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAU) in the areas established by the EAEU Treaty, to optimize approaches to the negotiation process within the EAEU in order to fully take into account the long-term national interests of Kazakhstan.
The Republic intends to develop bilateral and multilateral engagement with the CIS member states in order to strengthen multilateral dialogue in politics, trade, economy and humanitarian area, in security and in countering new challenges and threats.
Closer mutually beneficial ties with leading European states outside the EU are also among diplomatic priorities. “Staying the course towards expanding cooperation with multilateral political and security organizations in Europe and Eurasia: the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Council of Europe, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and other institutions,” says the concept.
