Kazakhstan Awaits CSTO PA Observer Mission for Parliamentary Election
During the meeting between Yermek Kosherbayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation, and Sergei Pospelov, CSTO PA Executive Secretary, the parties discussed topical issues on the agenda, including the participation of the CSTO PA delegation in monitoring the early Mazhilis elections on March 19.
“Our cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan is developing fruitfully and is strategic in nature. A delegation of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly has already been formed and is ready to take part in the election observation mission. The core team of our observers will arrive in Astana a couple of days before the voting,” said Sergei Pospelov.
CSTO PA international observers are guided in their work by the principles of the Convention on Standards of Democratic Election, Voting Rights and Freedoms in the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States: the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the electoral process and observation of the electoral legislation of the state where the elections are held.
As you may recall, a group of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly monitored the voting process of the early presidential election in Kazakhstan on November 20, 2022 and concluded that the election was in compliance with the country's legislation and international standards.
