Konstantin Zatulin: Real History Cannot Be Canceled
Events in honor of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from the Nazi invaders are ongoing in Serbia. Konstantin Zatulin, first deputy Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, also took part in them.
“Our common duty is to remember the lessons of the Second World War and its consequences. The pertinence of this task is difficult to overestimate in current circumstances. In Europe and America, neo-Nazism is once again raising its head. Attempts to falsify and silence history are intensifying. A despicable campaign is underway to destroy memorial sites dedicated to the warriors-liberators. But real history cannot be canceled”, said Konstantin Zatulin.
He emphasized that Russia is firmly committed to the principles of international law and the UN Charter, it is open for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with all states “on the basis of equality, mutual consideration of interests, non-interference in internal affairs and protection of equal and indivisible security”.
As you may recall, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma, has repeatedly mentioned that the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly should do its best to preserve historical memory and protect it from falsifications. In particular, on December 19, 2023, the Assembly adopted Recommendations on Liability for the Actions Related to Nazism Rehabilitation and Distortion the Historical Truth.
