In his speech at the remote 14th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Mahmadtoir Zohir Zokirzoda, Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, praised the CSTO PA’s role in the Organization’s work. In particular, he noted that today it is clear that the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly “has become an authoritative international parliamentary organization that has made a tangible contribution to ensuring and strengthening security and stability in the region and to developing integration processes within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
Speaking on the implementation of the Republic of Tajikistan’s priorities for its CSTO presidency in 2021, the Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan detailed the joint events that took place, including meetings of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils, Councils of Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs, a field session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council in July 2021 and a meeting of the Collective Security Council on September 13.
As a result, the heads of the CSTO Member States adopted a final declaration and signed 14 multilateral documents. During the CSC session, the heads of states noted the high level and efficiency of Tajikistan’s presidency in the Organization.
In addition, Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda noted that during the Republic of Tajikistan’s presidency in the CSTO, a meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers and the CSTO Military Committee’s working group on Afghanistan and of the Council of Ministers of Information and Communication’s working group on issues of radioelectronic warfare were held.
Conducted special operations included Kanal 2021, Nelegal 2021 and a series of exercises of the CSTO Collective Forces and Assets: Poisk 2021, Echelon 2021 and Vzaimodeistvie 2021, as well as a joint exercise of the peacekeeping forces Unbreakable Brotherhood 2021. Parliamentarians participated in the exercises for military and political monitoring of the situation.
