Makhmadtoir Zokirzoda: The situation developing in Afghanistan puts strong pressure on the Tajik-Afghan section of the CSTO southern borders
“I am confident that this meeting will be an important step towards further development and strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties between our countries,” Makhmadtoir Zokirzoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, said at the meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Makhmadtoir Zokirzoda stressed that the Republic of Tajikistan supported all the items on the Council agenda and expressed confidence that the meeting would give a new impetus to the general activities of the Organization.
Speaking about the problem in the Afghan border area, Makhmadtoir Zokirzoda reminded that the CSTO Secretariat had developed and sent to the states an updated draft of the CSTO target interstate program to strengthen the sections of the Tajik-Afghan border.
“The current situation in Afghanistan puts strong pressure on the Tajik-Afghan section of the southern borders of CSTO Member States. In this context, I consider it necessary to continue consistent joint work to complete as soon as possible the coordination of the CSTO target interstate program to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan section of the border,” stressed the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
