Talant Mamytov: Kyrgyzstan stands for strengthening of CSTO potential
“I am convinced that our meetings confirm the mutual desire to strengthen cooperation and are certainly useful for the exchange of views on topical issues of inter-parliamentary interaction,” noted Talant Mamytov, Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, in his speech at the field session of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on June 6 in Yerevan.
Talant Mamytov reminded that this year marks an anniversary for the Organization and noted that the CSTO is properly fulfilling its mission, gaining more and more international authority every year, becoming a responsible partner in the Eurasian space.
“There is no doubt that the Organization will be in-demand, considering its new prospects,” the Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic emphasized.
“One of the good examples of the consolidated CSTO Member States’ vision of the tasks and purpose of the CSTO, considering the current events, was the mutual support and operational assistance in one of the Member States of the Organization. It has demonstrated effective and real defence capabilities by responding quickly and efficiently, and the Member States were united and coordinated for timely resolution of the crisis situation in all its hybrid manifestations. Each member of the Organization contributed to the fulfilment of the assigned tasks,” said Talant Mamytov.
“The Kyrgyz Republic attaches more importance to strengthening the CSTO potential and establishing a full-fledged military-political structure based on trust and mutual understanding. We are counting on the real tangible effect of multilateral cooperation in the military, economic and security spheres.
According to the Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the increasing challenges and threats to security, including international terrorism, religious extremism, illicit drug trafficking and much more require the Organization’s States to deepen cooperation to offer timely response to the existing threats. For this purpose, it is necessary to concentrate efforts not only on counteracting the challenges and threats to the security of CSTO countries, but also on eliminating their causes.
