Markevich: Turnout in Rural Areas is Already Over 60%
International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly visited polling stations in Arshaly district, Akmola oblast.
“In Arshaly village we saw a turnout of over 60 percent,” said Aleksandr Markevich, head of the CSTO PA observer mission.
The election in Kazakhstan takes place on the eve of the spring equinox national holiday. In most precincts voters come in their national costumes and are greeted with national dishes: nauryz kozhe and baursak.
“Voter turnout in villages is traditionally higher; at the same time we saw not just high turnout of the voters but also their positive attitude towards the process,” the CSTO PA observer mission coordinator added.
