International Observers from the CSTO PA Begin Work in Kazakhstan’s Parliamentary Election
On March 16, a group of CSTO PA international observers monitoring the preparation and conduct of the early election of deputies to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan arrived in Astana and started their work.
As you may recall, by the decision of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and at the invitation of Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly formed a group of international observers to monitor the preparation and conduct of the early parliamentary election in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Aleksandr Markevich, deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and Chairman of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Socioeconomic and Legal Issues, has been appointed as coordinator of the group of international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly.
Before voting day, observers scheduled a number of meetings in Astana with the Interior Ministry, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of campaign offices of the parties and the leadership of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a meeting with Grigory Logvinov, deputy SCO Secretary General.
On March 19, the voting day, CSTO PA international observers will monitor polling stations in Astana and Akmola oblast from their opening until the end of vote counting according to individual itineraries.
A final press conference of the CIS Observer Mission with participation of observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly is scheduled for March 20.
