Specialists from the International Mine Action Centre of the Russian Ministry of Defence are continuing to clear the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh near the settlement of Martuni.
According to the website of the Russian Ministry of Defence, since the operation began in November 23, 2020, the Russian peacekeeping forces’ engineering units have cleared 1191.3 ha of land, over 350 km of roads, 1170 buildings, including 29 socially significant facilities, and found and deactivated about 24,200 explosive objects.
Detected explosive objects and unexploded ammunition are removed and destroyed at a specially equipped facility. Ammunition that cannot be evacuated is destroyed on site, with all the necessary explosion safety precautions.
When demining and clearing the outskirts of populated areas, Russian peacekeepers use the advanced Uran 6 remotely operated vehicles that make it possible to ensure the safety of military personnel when handling the explosives and to maintain a high rate of ground clearance in all weather conditions.
