Mobile EW groups protected S-300PS air defence system’s positions from “enemy” air reconnaissance during training in Tajikistan
Mobile electronic warfare groups of the 201st military base protected S-300PS air defence system’s positions from air reconnaissance of a simulated enemy during a complex training exercise at Lyaur training ground in the Republic of Tajikistan.
The website of the Russian Ministry of Defence reports that, according to the exercise scenario, electronic reconnaissance at the Lyaur training ground detected an unidentified reconnaissance aircraft heading towards the S-300PS launch site.
In order to provide visual protection, the Polye-21 and R-330 complexes were sent to the specified area where they deployed mobile electronic-suppression capabilities. Electronic-warfare experts disrupted control and information gathering channels of the simulated enemy’s reconnaissance facilities by jamming them.
In addition, they practiced direction finding and analyzing signals of radio sources in the operating frequency range. All combat training tasks on organizing protection of the S-300PS site were practiced based on the experience of modern military conflicts.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is the largest military facility of the Russian Federation outside its borders. It is located in two cities, Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defence, NBC protection and communications units.
