Belarus and Russia hold military exercises at Brestsky proving ground
As part of joint combat training, the Belarusian and Russian servicemen, who are part of the regional grouping of troops, practise elements of tactical, combat, medical and engineering training as well as cross-country driving of combat vehicles. Operational coordination events are being held at the Brestsky proving ground in the Republic of Belarus.
The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation reports in detail on what is now happening at the proving ground.
The grenade launcher operators fire four rounds each, changing positions in tandem with the snipers. While the former are firing at armoured vehicles, latter are destroying the enemy’s personnel. A sniper, call sign Levitan, calculates the distance to targets simulating infantry.
“Apart from taking shots, a sniper must also be an intelligent and trained person. You must be able to determine the distance quickly and in time, calculate windage adjustments, know all the formulas for this, make adjustments in your scope and, ultimately, take that single shot. And there is certainly no room for error. Here we are becoming those professional sniper shooters who can hit a remote target with confidence,” the Russian Ministry of Defence quotes Levitan.
The tank crews perform multiple tasks simultaneously: loading ammunition, moving the tank into a firing position, performing reconnaissance and target detection, after which the T-80 tanks are ready to open fire.
Russian servicemen work together with their Belarusian colleagues in the snow field.
“After all, we are allied states. There are a lot of Russian colleagues in Belarus right now. We need to train as a team. Share knowledge and skills with each other. This is very important,” stresses a squad leader (call sign Vezha) of a paratrooper battalion of the Belarusian Armed Forces.
As you may recall, the Republic of Belarus will chair the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2023.
