Exercises of the CSTO CRRF logistics function began at the Kapustin Yar proving ground
Echelon 2020 exercise starts today at the Kapustin Yar proving ground in Astrakhan oblast. The exercise involves CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force’s logistics function, as reported by the Collective Security Treaty Organization website.
The Organization’s Member States’ military forces and CSTO Joint Staff task force are going to take part in the exercise, led by Lieutenant General Viktor Voronov, deputy Commander of the Troops of the Southern Military District responsible for logistics.
The exercise will focus on the logistics organization for the CSTO Collective Rapid Response Force during a joint operation to localize the border armed conflict in the Caucasian collective-security region.
According to the press service of the Central Military District of the Russian Ministry of Defense, about 1,000 servicemen of the Organization’s Member States’ military forces and CSTO Joint Staff task force are taking part in the exercise involving 250 vehicles.
In the course of the exercise, the servicemen will set up a logistics command post, transport military contingents and organize logistical support of the CSTO CRRF during the joint operation to localize the armed border conflict in the Caucasian collective-security region.
During these operations, military units will improve various procedures of military equipment loading and offloading; stock replenishment in combat areas; evacuation and repair of combat-damaged equipment; and large-scale equipment refuelling.
