At the Lyaur training ground in Tajikistan, the Russian military personnel held a training session to put units of the 201st military base in combat readiness mode to perform tasks in the Central Asian region to repel attacks of simulated fighters.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the servicemen deployed command posts and went on combat duty, having marched 50 kilometers accompanied by a military vehicle inspection and under the cover of Mi-8MTV5-1 transport and combat helicopters and Mi-24 attack helicopters.
A division of S-300PS anti-aircraft missile systems was brought into the air on drill alert to monitor the airspace, detect and destroy aerial warfare weapons of the mock enemy. Then motorized rifle units practiced defensive actions and destruction of armoured vehicles of the "enemy" with RPG-7B grenade launchers.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia's largest military facility outside its borders. It is located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defence, NBC protection and communications units.
