Coronavirus vaccination of servicemen has started at the 201st Military Base in Tajikistan, Russia’s largest military facility outside its territory.
According to the press service of the Central Military District of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, military medics airlifted the first batch of 1100 doses of the bicomponent vaccine Gam-COVID-Vak (Sputnik V) on January 19. Special cold chain containers were used for transportation. The first component of the vaccine was distributed according to the schedule among medical personnel of the 451st Russian military hospital, active-duty military personnel, base commanders and forces on duty.
The first batch of 200 doses of the coronavirus vaccine was also delivered today by a military transport aircraft of the Central Military District to the Kant Russian Joint Military Base in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Prior to vaccination, military personnel are being briefed on the new coronavirus infection, the effect of the vaccine on the human body and possible side effects. Vaccination is entirely voluntary. All vaccinated servicemen remain under constant medical supervision.
