Exercises of the 201st CSTO military base were held at the high-altitude proving grounds Lyaur and Sambul in Tajikistan
Motorized rifle units of the 201st CSTO military base held a bilateral exercise at the high-altitude proving grounds Lyaur and Sambul in Tajikistan.
According to the website of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, in the course of the exercise, the servicemen practiced defence and offensive actions using reconnaissance and firing systems. The main focus was on improving interaction between motorized rifle, tank, artillery and reconnaissance units.
The servicemen fired small arms, grenade launchers, armoured combat vehicles, tanks and artillery. The units’ manoeuvres and firing attacks on conventional enemy forces in the mountains were monitored by Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicle systems. More than 150 items of weaponry and military equipment were involved in the exercise: BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-82A armoured personnel carriers, T-72 tanks, Grad multiple rocket launchers, Akatsiya and Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers.
