CSTO PA observers begin work in Armenian elections
Observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization began their work at the early elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Headed by Kanybek Imnaliev, coordinator of observers from the CSTO PA and deputy Chairman of the Committee for International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, a meeting was held to discuss observation plans.
It was especially stressed that the observers of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly act in accordance with the principles of objectivity and impartiality, relying the standards for democratic elections adopted in the CIS, as set forth in the Convention on Standards of Democratic Election, Voting Rights and Freedoms in the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, being guided by the principles of impartiality and objectivity.
CSTO PA observers laid flowers and wreaths at the Mother of Armenia monument. Presently meetings are being held with the leadership of the election headquarters of the whole spectrum of political forces, which have nominated their candidates for the early elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Then the observers plan to meet with the heads of the National Assembly and the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Armenia and visit election commissions to check their voting readiness.
As you may recall, early elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia are scheduled for June 20. CSTO PA observers are working in the early elections by the invitation of Ararat Mirzoyan, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
