Naryshkin Names the Main Difference Between the CSTO and Western Military and Political Blocs
Sergei Naryshkin, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, spoke today at the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security.
He noted that the West is currently dismantling not only the norms of international law, but also the fundamental norms of human morality.
Sergei Naryshkin emphasized that the formation of a multipolar world order is especially noticeable in Eurasia, and noted the importance of such structures as the CSTO. In his opinion, the principal difference between the CSTO, the SCO and the CIS and Western military-political and economic blocs is their non-directedness against third countries and their “focus on the establishment of a just world order based on respect for sovereignty and international law.”
The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service also spoke about the increasing role of the African Union as a global institution capable of resolving future crises in Africa.
“In the Western Hemisphere, which the Americans have always considered their ‘backyard,’ there is a rising need for independent integration frameworks. One of them is the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, or CELAC, which does not involve the USA or Canada,” Mr Naryshkin noted.
The Moscow Conference on International Security is a forum that brings together representatives of defence agencies, international organizations and non-governmental experts in search of answers to key global security issues.
