Erlan Baizhanov Appointed Kazakhstan’s New Ambassador to Belarus
On August 25, Erlan Baizhanov was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus by the Decree of the President of Kazakhstan. He was also concurrently appointed permanent representative to the CIS Statutory Bodies.
Earlier Erlan Baizhanov served as Ambassador to Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
In 1989–1991, he worked as a lecturer at the Kirov Kazakh State University, as a parliamentary columnist, head of the editorial department of the Sovety Kazakhstana newspaper.
1996–1997: First Secretary, Head of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
1997–2004: Deputy Head of the Press Service of the President of Kazakhstan.
2004–2005: Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the CSTO.
2005–2006: First Vice-Minister of Culture, Information and Sport of Kazakhstan.
2006–2007: Head of the Information and Analytical Centre of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2007–2008: press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan.
2008–2010: Chairman of the Board of Arna Media National Information Holding.
2011: Managing Director of Samruk-Kazyna NWF.
2011–2013: General Director of NUR-Media Holding.
2014: Advisor to the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2014–2019: Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia.
On May 18, 2019, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Vietnam by the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On December 21, 2019, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Cambodia and to Lao People’s Democratic Republic concurrently.
Holder of the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary.
