CSTO and ICRC discussed operational activities in Europe and Central Asia
.Samat Ordabaev, CSTO deputy Secretary General, and Ariane Bauer, Operational Director of the International Committee of the Red Cross for Europe and Central Asia, met on August 17 to exchange views on the humanitarian situation in the CSTO areas of responsibility and border regions amidst growing international tension.
According to the press service of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, participants of the meeting also included the CSTO Secretariat staff and representatives of the ICRC Regional Organization in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
Meeting participants noted positive results of the joint work in the current year and outlined main areas for further interaction and also discussed the procedure of CSTO States’ approval of ICRC representatives’ participation in the command-and-staff exercise Interaction 2022 with the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Forces and Unbreakable Brotherhood 2022 with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in working together to develop cooperation between the CSTO and the ICRC in key areas of international humanitarian law.
