CSTO intends to develop its peacekeeping capacities under the UN auspices
Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and Viktor Gulevich, a member of the CSTO Military Committee, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and first deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, met in Moscow.
According to BelTA, the parties exchanged views on the challenges and threats in the CSTO area of responsibility and beyond, discussed the results of the Organization’s work over the past year and its short-term objectives in the area of military cooperation.
The CSTO Secretary General noted the continuing need to equip the CSTO Collective Rapid Response Force with modern weapons, military and special equipment and to expand cooperation with international and regional organizations, in particular, to develop dialogue with the UN on the integration of the CSTO peacekeeping capacities into the UN peacekeeping activities.
Viktor Gulevich arrived at Moscow to take part in the regular session of the CSTO Military Committee to be held on April 14.
The CSTO PA currently develops the Model Law On Peacekeeping Activities and Forces in accordance with the 2021–2025 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States.
