CSTO parliamentarians began monitoring the peacekeeper exercise by meeting at Kazan Higher Tank Command School
Representatives of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States visited the Kazan Higher Tank Command Red Banner School of the Order of Zhukov that hosts the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces’ exercise Unbreakable Brotherhood 2021 and met with the leadership of the CSTO Joint Staff, leaders of the Unbreakable Brotherhood 2021 exercise and the command of the Kazan Higher Tank Command School.
They discussed the progress of the Unbreakable Brotherhood 2021 which began on November 8 and the situation within the CSTO area of responsibility. The parliamentarians visited classrooms and were shown simulators and equipment that cadets use in their training.
Representatives of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States laid wreaths at the monument to graduates of the Kazan Higher Tank Command School who perished in the Great Patriotic War.
Exercise participants include military contingents of the CSTO Member States –Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation and Republic of Tajikistan, military police units, internal affairs (police) units, national guards, as well as authorized bodies for prevention of and response to emergency situations and operative groups of the CSTO Joint Staff and Secretariat; the exercise is headed by Colonel General Aleksandr Lapin, commander of the troops of the Central Military District.
On November 12, representatives of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States will attend the final stage of the exercise, which will simulate a tactical episode of blocking a locality captured by illegal armed groups with the subsequent destruction of the simulated enemy.
As you may recall, within the framework of the 2021–2025 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly has developed the model law On Peacekeeping Activities and Peacekeeping Forces.
