CSTO parliamentarians share their first impressions of the elections in the Federation Council
Konstantin Kosachev, Vice speaker of the Federation Council, met with international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. He said that representatives of 36 countries are observing the presidential election through the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. In total, the Central Election Commission has issued accreditation to observers from 106 states.
"This means that the monitoring process is absolutely large-scale, representative, authoritative and objective, which is good news for us, despite all attempts to hinder us. We see that the observers from the CSTO PA are determined to work very hard," Konstantin Kosachev emphasized.
Snezhanna Imasheva, CSTO PA mission coordinator, pointed out that the Parliamentary Assembly observation group arrived in Russia at the invitation of Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council, and Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma.
"We will definitely visit polling stations in Moscow and the Moscow region, meet with representatives of the headquarters of all candidates, visit the Public Observation Headquarters, and also meet with the leaders of the State Duma. Before us, a group of experts had already visited Russia and concluded that in general, the preparation for the elections complies with the legislation of the Russian Federation and international standards," shared Snezhanna Imasheva.
According to the preliminary data of the CEC, international observers will visit at least 52 regions in Russia.
