Parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States coordinate their work at the forthcoming session of the OSCE PA
Mutual support, consideration of states’ interests and their cooperation obligations within the CSTO, promotion of equal cooperative relations for the CSTO Member States in the international OSCE format and coordination of joint positions on topical issues of international politics and security were the topics of the coordination meeting of the heads of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States to the OSCE PA that was held today remotely at the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly under the chairmanship of Eduard Aghajanyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on Foreign Relations, head of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Armenia to the OSCE PA.
“The significance of coordination of actions of the CSTO Member States in the fight against common threats on the pressing foreign policy issues increases in such difficult times,” Eduard Aghajanyan said in his speech, stressing that “We, the parliamentarians, should promote the consolidation and dialogue of all constructive forces for the sake of the future. Only through joint efforts can we preserve peace and ensure progressive and conflict-free development of our countries.”
The practice of holding joint meetings of the heads of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States to the OSCE PA was established in 2009. The meetings were institutionalized by the CSTO Collective Security Council, when one of the plans of the legal support of the parliamentary dimension of the formation and development of the Collective Security System was approved at the initiative of the CSTO Secretary General, the supreme administrative official of the Organization.
The meeting was attended by Andrei Savinykh, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs, head of the Parliamentary Delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to the OSCE PA; Ivan Mamaiko, member of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on National Security and member of the Parliamentary Delegation to the OSCE PA; Aigul Kuspan, Chairwoman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and member of the Parliamentary Delegation to the OSCE PA; Mirlan Samiykozho, deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use and Industrial Policy and head of the Parliamentary Delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE PA; Pyotr Tolstoy, deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and head of the Parliamentary Delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the OSCE PA; Vladimir Jabarov, first deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Committee on International Affairs and head of the Delegation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the OSCE PA; Farhod Rahimi, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Committee on Coordination Activities of the Majlisi Milli with the Majlisi Namoyandagon, Executive Power, Public Associations, Mass Media and Inter-Parliamentary Relations; and Fattokhzoda Saidmurod Samat, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information.
Participants discussed issues on the agenda of the upcoming 29th annual session of the OSCE PA (July 2–6, 2022, Birmingham).
