By order of the President of the Russian Federation, Russian Ministry of Defence’s aviation evacuates citizens of the CSTO States from Kabul
The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation has formed a group of Ilyushin Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Russian Air Force to evacuate 380 civilians from Afghanistan, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported, citing the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The Russian Air Force evacuates from Afghanistan “not only citizens of the Russian Federation, but also citizens of other CSTO States who want to leave that country due to challenging situation in it,” Interfax quotes Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
“This is the evacuation of the citizens who wished to leave, who need to leave the territory of Afghanistan due to extreme unrest,” added Mr Peskov.
The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence specified that the Russian Air Force would evacuate more than 380 citizens of the Russian Federation and other countries from Afghanistan.
“The evacuation by military transport aircraft from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan of more than 380 citizens of the Russian Federation, other CSTO Member States (Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Kyrgyz Republic), Ukraine and Afghanistan has been arranged,” Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence informed that the evacuation had been organized by Sergei Shoigu, Russian Minister of Defence, on instructions from Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
