In his speech at the Council of Europe on October 24, Vyacheslav VOLODIN, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, reminded that next year celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and invited his European colleagues to participate in the celebration. “In our country, the war has touched every family, and when we talk about it, it concerns us all. I think that it also concerns those who represent the republics that were part of the unified state, because many nationalities fought against fascism: Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Azerbaijanis, Armenians, Georgians, Moldovans,” he said.
“For us, the Victory Day is a celebration with tears in our eyes. Next year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory. I hope that all of you will take part in this celebration. But it would be more correct for us to consider it not as a celebration of victory, but as a commemoration of those who fell in different countries of Europe, who protected the world from fascism, giving us the opportunity to sit in this hall today,” noted Mr VOLODIN.
