On March 22, Igor Sergeyenko, who previously worked as head of the Executive Office of the President, was elected Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
In accordance with the legislation, the deputies elected the Chairman of the House of Representatives by secret ballot.
Mr. Sergeyenko was born in 1963 in the village of Stolitsa, Sharkovshchina District, Vitebsk region. In 1984, he graduated from the Belarusian State University, in 2006 - from the Academy of Administration under the President of Belarus.
In 1989-2010, Igor Sergeyenko occupied various posts in the bodies of the Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB). In 2010, he was appointed head of the KGB department in Mogilev region, and in 2013 - first deputy chairman of the KGB counterintelligence operations department.
In 2014-2019, he served as first deputy chairman of the Belarusian KGB. Since December 2019, he worked as head of the Executive Office of the President.
