Today, February 1, the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation is hosting the second meeting of the Chairpersons of the Committees on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States.
The meeting was opened by Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots and a member of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation.
“When we met last time on February 9, 2022, it was recommended to continue the practice of such working meetings,” Leonid Kalashnikov recalled.
The participants of the meeting exchange information about the military and political situation in their regions of the CSTO area of responsibility.
A representative of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization joined the meeting remotely.
As you may recall, the first meeting was held on February 9, 2022. It noted the increased activity of US strategic nuclear forces near the borders of CSTO States, the continuing high conflict potential along the Armenian-Azerbaijani line of contact and the terrorist threat in the Tajik-Afghan border zone.
