Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, discussed with the Russian Prosecutor General issues of ensuring law and order and protection of citizens of the two countries
According to the official website of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the meeting discussed a wide range of issues related to ensuring security and legal cooperation as part of the strategic partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.
The parties paid close attention to ensuring law and order and protection of citizens of the two countries from various criminal manifestations.
The importance of strengthening Tajik–Russian cooperation in the joint fight against terrorism, extremism and transnational organized crime, especially drug and weapons smuggling, cybercrime and other types of especially serious crime was emphasized.
The meeting also discussed the matters of combatting existing internal threats, including the trend of imposing religious radicalism ideology on society, as well as international terrorist and extremist sleeper cells.
The participants exchanged views on the challenging situation in Afghanistan, as well as on labour migration, protection of the rights and lawful interests of citizens, cooperation between the prosecution bodies of the two countries in providing legal assistance in criminal cases and extradition of wanted criminals.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stressed that supervisory bodies of the two countries steadily follow the course of partnership and development of good neighbourly relations set by the heads of state.
“We are strengthening cooperation in many areas, such as protecting children’s rights in the cyberspace; combating cybercrime; environmental protection; preferential education for Tajik students; and advanced training for prosecutors,” the Prosecutor General said.
Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, arrived in the Republic of Tajikistan on a working visit at the invitation of Yusuf Rahmon, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tajikistan.
